After several years of art college education I spent most of my professional career teaching young people with special needs. Since retiring in 2009 I have rediscovered the pleasure of creating small scale art work in gouache, watercolour and pen and ink.

My current interest lies in buildings with worn or damaged areas and decorative features. I enjoy focusing on parts that often go unnoticed such as rooftops and chimney pots. I love discovering old commercial or industrial structures that may have fallen out of use and sometimes bear the faint remains of advertisements or names that typify earlier styles in design.

I use my camera as a notebook and often montage a number of features captured in several photographs in one picture, or add a local ‘character’ such as a cat or a lamppost, a tree or a bridge.
